Reason I ask is I’ve heard for example, MQ didn’t want to pay for the said software upgrade. I’ve heard some people going through training there say it can be a pita.
One PFD is sourced to the FMS, the other something else. On an ILS the PF switches to green needles while the other side is still magenta. When the PF does this it disengages the auto pilot, so he has to re arm the nav mode, he mentioned a lot more stuff in detail, just sounded like to me all this “automation” just makes life harder.
I’m jaded though, I’m coming from a Metro and I’m used to doing everything manually even though we have the ability to do coupled approaches in the Metro I’ve found it easier to just hand fly it.

OOs 175’s have the newest Epic loads.

Or just stay magenta if you fly it in visual conditions. It will fly it nicely as G/P, just can't do that if you are in actual IMC. How often do you do non precision approaches in actual conditions? Not often, if ever. Where MQ flies the 175, 99% of places have an ILS, and the rest are VMC almost every day of the year.
This really isn't anything you should worry about.

Epic loads are mostly irrelevant on how operators fly the planes. Skywest flies their 175's to places where LPV is useful, Envoy does not. It's a matter of what makes the most sense for the operator. Envoy uses an Epic load that will fly a non-precision approach in magenta, but their procedures dictate otherwise, mostly because they happen like never, so it has never been an issue.
