What are the odds I could get moved up on the class dates if hired? I saw on the gouges that recent hires aren't taking classes until May 2020. Major yikes. The flight school I work at is likely shutting down at the end of the year so I'd have to apply elsewhere if I can't get scheduled sooner.

Let your recruiter know what's going on and ask to be wait listed. They can probably get you in sooner than May if you can go last minute. Crapshoot on how sooner though. Could be weeks or could be class before your scheduled one.

No I don’t think it’s counted, but we were told they were reducing hours on case by case basis for the places that really need captains (DTW). I believe they got down to around 650 hours, but I’m not sure what other experience that pilot had on top of the 650 121 hours.

I've heard its the airline's choice on whether or not to acknowledge this, and some airlines (Republic) won't. Thanks in advance for any info.

Unfortunately, that directly conflicts with what the last person said in regards to this. My decision to accept or deny my next flying assignment in the Air Force largely hinges on whether SkyWest will count those 500 hours so I could upgrade sooner. I guess I could contact a recruiter to find out, but can they be trusted with accurate info?

Yes you can count on Skywest giving you credit for your multi-Engine Crew Time towards your required hours for Upgrade. 6 months in the right seat should get you the other 500 hours and you will be eligible for Captain.

Is this reserve or ANG? I wouldn't serve another full AD tour when you could be getting 121 time and seniority unless you're about to retire.

This would be another 2 year active duty tour. The problem is that I’m not current because I’ve been in RPAs for the last 3+ years. I’ve got 1850 TT and 850 TPIC, my ATP is complete with a B-737 type rating. I’ve also got a B-707 and B-720 type rating from the military aircraft flown (old aircraft, but still a type rating nonetheless). I’m just shy of the 1000 TPIC check box. So another 2 year AD tour would get me approximately 800 hours TPIC, but it would extend my pilot training commitment by a year (not excited about that). OR I could go regionals, check the 121 box, and upgrade as fast as possible (hopefully in half the time with the 500 hour rule) and fly my butt off. I’m having an extremely difficult time deciding which route to go, so you can see why the 500 hour rule is important in my case.

If it were me I would get out yesterday to start building the 121 time. You'll likely build time faster at the regional if the Air Force is anything like the Navy. With your mil time I would think judging by other mil guys posting here you could get hired by a LCC pretty quick (3 years or less) but that's not first hand experience, just what I've heard lately. You might want to try the mil section, Rickair7777 responds pretty often on this stuff.
