I flew 99 block 10 months straight and then timed out for two months my first year as a captain at SkyWest. After that just bid reserve for the remaining two months, they called me for 8 hrs of RDY a few times just because some of their contracts with mainline required they had a ready reserve at the airport at certain times, but it was nice to be able to go and not have to bring a bag knowing that I wasn't legal to fly.

Got it, the "take time off" (hahaha) was what was confusing me. I thought that was what it's for but that doesn't seem feasible. How would one go about attempting to use it for that purpose? How would one cash it out?

Call payroll and have them put 6 blocks of 4.2 user time on your days off. Or do 3 blocks of 8.0 or whatever works. Put it on your schedule before you quit so you accrue more before you quit.

This, or on a desktop in skedplus right click on the day>add credit block, drop, request time off etc.

When you hand out advice to someone looking for help I’d recommend to be more clear. It’s a simple answer. You need to call payroll if you’re a reserve. If you’re a line holder you can manually right click on an off day and apply your user time, or call payroll and have them take care of it.
