why would you upgrade? To sit on reserve or have 90+ hour lines for the foreseeable future? Junior CA QoL is as bad as it can get.

This is what shrinking looks like:

July 1 2022 size: 5230
August 1 2022 size: 5160
Net change: -70
CA gone: 114
FO gone: 99
Total: 213

That doesn’t mean anything with our current situation. Go look at the standing bid list for upgrades. They literally have nobody left to upgrade and that’s not even considering most of those standing bids are FO's without the time.

30 upgrades awarded in August not because that’s all they needed!! You can now upgrade into freaking San Diego with less than 1 year seniority.

Any base you want it’s yours from the left seat. We’ll continue to lose 100+ Captains a month, and maybe upgrade 20-30. FO’s leaving with less than 1,000 hours makes the situation even worse. They mentioned it in the earnings call, hiring new FO’s will never be a problem, but having enough body’s in the left seat WILL BE A PROBLEM.

The scariest part, $200 an hour for Captains won’t stop most of us from leaving to a Major. It’s going to require drastic measures. My favorite part of this is Delta attempting to meter OO captains, so they leave for Southwest instead, and in the process have destroyed pilot moral that’s already low to begin with.

I can't imagine a world where they thought this was going to go over well. It's mind boggling. Why would anyone stay here when you know they're going to do this to you.

Two ways to fix it.

1. Complete 180 from current plan. Pay more, better QOL guarantees, certain career progression, or make OO a career destination with pay and QOL.

2. Long term training contract from date of hire to guarantee OO you will be locked in as a captain working for them for a minimum amount of time.

or a deep recession combined with massive travel demand drop changes current career outlook

SAPA was supposed to give us an update about the new contract last Wednesday. Anything?

Competing for employees when other employers pay more happens in all businesses, this is just the first time the regionals have had to figure out what aviation golden handcuffs look like.

"The Negotiating Committee met with the Company yesterday for most of the day and appears to have made some notable progress. The NC will be presenting to the entirety of the SAPA board next week at the meeting in LAX. The NC believes we are close and hopes to have further updates after the meeting next week."

As nebulous as this is, it's at least vaguely different than the exact same updates we've gotten the last however many weeks. That said, "keep your expectations in the realm of reality" - SAPA.

I'd expect FO pay to at least match Air f'ing Wisconsin's 60/hr starting pay and I will be shocked if it's a dollar more. No idea what captains will get.
