I just listened to the 7/28 sapa conference call and I’m kinda fired up.
What an embarrassment.
If SAPA is all we’ve got, OO pilots need to engage. Step one listen to this limp-wristed conference call, and then start joining these calls and let’s push some accountability.

The SkyWest pilot group had the opportunity to vote a union in years ago and couldn't make it happen. Most of the non-lifer pilot group see it as a stepping-stone and are not interested in changing anything; or they know - nothing will change until CC/TTG decides that it needs to. They just want to get their time and then get out. I'd imagine it's only worse since I left, as the LCCs are now hiring RJ FOs with less than 500 hours and are even hiring ATP grads in their cadet programs. These cadets are skipping the regionals and going straight to the airbus and will likely get hired at a legacy before most at OO but, even if they never move on, they're still in a better career position.

Recession, probably. But unless we have 200+ pilots a month aging out now, I don't think a 2 year reprieve is gonna solve their problem even in the interim. The majors haven't even caught up to their nominal staffing levels yet, retirements notwithstanding.

I listened to the call live, in hopes to receive live contract updates. Sadly, it has lately been a total waste of my life. Just 20 minutes of SAPA having absolutely nothing to report. Unfortunately this time the call lasted almost an hour because some guy was demanding they give more “data” on the GPI program. The program is a joke, and there’s really no way they could give us accurate data on who actually got hired through GPI because the attrition is so high, and now even the CJO holders don’t actually know if they were selected through GPI or just picked from the stack on Airline Apps.
It was a legit back and forth between some guy who’s on the GPI list demanding they gather the data. I actually agree with our “president” saying it’s not only going to take a ridiculous amount to time to collect the data, but the data would be inaccurate anyways for multiple reasons.
I’d rather they spend their entire efforts on the current contract negotiations, and I’ll spend my efforts on updating my apps.

Nearly 30 Million 2nd Quarter Profits
So after making nearly 30 Million in 2nd quarter profits, one would think they could afford some employee raises. What is the Student Government Council’s official statement on this?
