Apologies in advance - I know this information is here somewhere I’m just having trouble finding it. I’ve been thinking about getting back into 121 after a long break and the direct entry captain program is intriguing. Any idea how long would it take to get SFO as DEC? Also, what are minimum days off at SkyWest? Thanks all.
for reserves: 12/13
You can see the lowest seniority in each seat/base here: https://www.skywest.com/skywest-airl...jobs#seniority
It will be difficult to predict how that will change in the future, but it is very likely the times will come down.

Could someone advise how schedules tend to look these days? Are there many 1-3 day trips? I’m mostly interested in shorter trips
My family and I are planning to move to base. If possible, we’d just prefer to avoid ORD, DTW and California. Any other base is great for us.

According to the latest scheduling report about half of our trips are 1-3 days (including stand-ups). The other half are 4-days.

Expect to have at least two 4-days month, sometimes more. and then the rest 3 days or standups. Locals are pretty rare and go really senior. Expect once a month to get two 3 days back to back to make a 6 day work block with one short night at home in between. On a really bad month you'll have four 4 days and then something else thrown in there to get you to 87 hours credit. Basically its a beat down right now.

Continuous duty overnight trip. Basically block out in the evening and fly to destination, get to the hotel and get between 3-8 hours of rest, and then operate the flight back early morning. Off the rest of the day.

I think Silver Airways, Spirit, and Allegiant are best for getting all short trips, anywhere else it will take seniority. You might want to prioritize your end goal, such as which airline will get you the earliest class date, get you through training fastest, and get you flight time fastest so you can move onto your goal airline before the hiring wave ends. It’s possible a year or two at a regional would get you to Spirit or Allegiant. You might check whether Allegiant or Spirit share junior bases with any regional airlines so you can plan on fewer moves.
