we have never “hired DEC’s”. But they have in the past walked into NH classes and upgraded those that wanted to and meet the time requirement.. I suspect now through end of 2022 this will happen each month…

Starting Maneuver Training this coming Monday, part of the 12/28 CRJ GND class.

Trying to gauge the domicile award timeline (DTW memes aside)

Anyone know when the previous CRJ GND received their "awards" for their Dom out of TRG? Odds of getting ORD either by TRG Award or Standing Bid between now and mid-February?

Seems like we're kinda in the blind at the moment with all the movement going on and DTW ramping up for OO

Even if you don’t get ORD right away you should have it by IOE

Our 10/19 class had mostly ORD, followed by DTW and MSP. The class after us I think majority got DTW.

Company awards transfers to line pilots first, either on the first of month or a day or two prior. Trainees are then, and only then, thrown into a base after that. Usually the first of each month. Sometimes the second. It always happens right after line pilots get their awards.

Nowadays it looks like the company isn’t in a hurry to award a base to trainees. The differences and IOE wait is so long and increasing they have time to put you somewhere.

Midwest is very junior and looks to stay that way.

Default Observation Flights

How are observation flights scheduled after completing ground? Do you just ask your CP and they stick you somewhere? Can you just pick some segments you want to observe and non-rev it in the JS? Lastly, do observation flights annoy you line pilots?

There are no scheduled observation flights. You just jumpseat. I think they say they’d like to see you doing two a week. No one checks tho.

And these are done after LOE and waiting for IOE.

Got it, thanks. I hear the wait on the CRJ is 6-7 weeks (though I'm on the ERJ and have no idea what the LOE>IOE gap is). Not typically annoying to have a new hire observe (assuming they stay quiet and don't slow anything down)?

I’m not familiar with erj new hire waits but for erj upgrades they are seeing anywhere from 1-4 weeks for IOE.

We have jumpseaters all the time. Come with questions and in your uniform if you want to do the walk around with the FO.
