Can a proffer award be taken away by CS?
Got awarded a 1-day local on my Friday. I tried to pick-up a crew posted pairing for the next day(10hr rest, 30hr off, etc. all were met). CS said I couldn’t pick it up because it was still a RSV day even though I was awarded the proffer 1day and that could be taken off my schedule. Is this common practice?
*new hires and prospective pilots
Choose a base where you can hold a line as soon as possible even if it requires a commute. Reserve f’ing sucks!

Are you saying you tried to pick something up on a day off and they denied it? Or tried to pick something up on a reserve day?

As a reserve you have virtually zero say in what they can do to you, really they will do the unthinkable, they don't care one bit. Today as an example, in my domicile, they have 19 less reserves than they should. There is not one chance anybody in the domicile could get a day off if they requested one, and it's unlikely next month too.

Reserve sucks anywhere you go - it sucks more with some and less with others. But it is just a gradient of suck.
The best you can hope for to get if reserve quickly and not upgrade pre-maturely or - god forbid - go the street captain route.
Reserve at SKYW is pretty bad but adjusted for how long you will be on reserve it may still be the - relative - better deal out there.

[QUOTE=Check Complete;2827805]Yes reserve here is hell on earth, and as we get tighter on pilots it's only going to get worse. You may only sit a few months on reserve as an FO but you will sits years as a new Captain. I flew with an FO recently that had upgraded and sat a year of reserve only to go back as an FO the first chance he got.
while this is true on the west coast. East coast bases are about 2.5 years to a line. if you put your bid in around the 2 year mark you will hold a line within a month or 2 of finishing training in ATL or DTW. ORD and MSP are a bit longer. all of this is subject to change as past performance is no gaurentee of future results.
