If you’ve got that kind of moxie at 1.5k then you should grab a gig as Musk’s personal pilot.

Skywest still has stability being the largest regional and the western bases people want. Another selling point could be having a training department that has been proven to be able to take CFIs with only c172 time and teach them to fly to 121 jet standards. I have no idea about the difficulty of initial at ULCC vs OO
Maybe more money is coming like the WOs did to lock in their pilots.
I think the WOs knew the ULCCs were going to move to hiring 1500hr pilots and put the 180k bonus in place to keep them.
I also think ULCCs hiring at 1500 will put the nail in the casket for a few more of the regionals when it comes to recruitment. Just reading the Mesa forum about the July class still not having sim dates- so their training department must be a disaster. I am not sure on any motivation for someone at minimums to go to zw, c5, or g7 with UA wanting to move away from 50 seat jets and bases that I would despise. Republic seems like a decent spot with all their all 170 fleet, but will probably just be the OO of the east coast.
All the regular 1500 hour ATP are now going to have the choice to spend 4k on a CTP course and another 2k on a checkride to be able to skip the regionals and go directly to ULCC. Its just a matter of time until the ULCCs will cover that part too.
Things are going to get interesting very quickly. Spirit just moved their first chess piece in the recruitment game. I wonder who will make their move next.

So I have applied through the Skywest website and have an interview scheduled. I only have one question. On the app through the company website there was no where to report speeding tickets which I have several of. My question is how should I approach this in the interview. Should I not bring it up if they don’t ask or should I be proactive and let them know. The last thing I want is to be pull3d out of class and accused of lying to them.

At that point just tell em “hey I’ve got some speeding tickets, didn’t see a spot to put them on the application”
and they’ll say something along the lines of “yeah we really don’t care as long as it’s not a DUI or reckless driving”
SkyWest doesn’t care right now and probably won’t care for a while.
