yes, you can bid specific layovers, or specific pairings.
However, your trip will start and end in your domicile. Unless the trip starts or ends with a DH.

I’ve successfully gotten 2 (TWO) of those overnights in 3 years….. bidding <30% in each base.

Default Retiring at OO

Hi all. I'm starting class in a few months and, at 50, don't see myself making it to a major or LCC and I'm totally fine with that. That said, are there any travel benefits once you age out and retire? Are you able to hop on any open AA/DL/UA metal for an international vacation, and if so, is it base/airframe dependent? I'm not finding a lot of info on retirement benefits since most people move on. Thanks in advance for any insight.

get hired at OO, spend 1.5 to 2 years there and then go to spirit or Frontier. The difference in career earnings, even at your age will be over 1 million dollars and that will be enough to buy yourself some tickets almost anywhere you want to go.

You've got fifteen years to give this career. That’s a long time; you’ll be rewarded with further job opportunities if you so choose. If you stay at OO that’s fine. Just don’t sell yourself short before you even start.

Congrats on the career change!

As others have said don’t sell yourself short, you definitely could still move on.

To answer part of your question, yes we get some travel benefits. United and Delta offer us travel benefits, American and Alaska do not. United is automatic and for Delta you have to be in a Delta dedicated base when you leave to receive them. I also believe that to qualify as retirement it has to be 10 years of service and over 55 but I could be wrong

You could easily get to a major/legacy in 2 years after flying at a regional, especially in the current market. I wouldn't plan on stopping anywhere until you get where you wanna retire.
