Yep, you don't get any seniority til you either show up in class or join the cadet program. I'd say best shot outside of cadets is to make it known to your recruiter you are able to take the first class date possible - not everyone given a date will take the class. When I started my class date was initially about 4 months out and then turned into 10 days out when they had some drop outs.

Getting better travel seniority from the cadet program is a pretty nice perk too

Btw congratulations to the spring 2019 hires that got awarded September upgrade.

Here’s a fun career question for you guys. Let me offer that I am an FO.
Let’s say, first, I need to work. So I need to make money. But I don’t need to make a ton of money. And I generally like flying 121 and I generally like my base. What would you do with this career?
Stay regional FO and bid check airmen?
Upgrade? ….Because I “should”.
Move on to mainline for the schedule? Or pay more requisite to my skill level…. Or maybe, again, cause I should?
Grab a CL65 135 two on, two off gig?
In truth, these are real questions for me. But also, this thread is getting overrun with new hire mambo jambo.
