When I first started, I was given my first ready reserve for the following day. I knew it was only 10 minutes to get to the gate, so I decided to sit and read OUTSIDE security in a quiet spot (unaware of that rule). I also was unaware you had to “check in” that you’re at the airport. Naturally I get call from crew support, brand new me excitingly says, “yeah I’m here just hanging out waiting”. “Ok you need to check in, just confirm you’re through KCM”. Yeah obviously clueless new hire me had no idea what I was doing. Nothing happened, they probably saw my employee number. Was informed I need to be through security for ready, and luckily not penalized for it.

And time on ready reserve accurs toward monthly guarantee at 2:1? So 8 ÷ 2 = 4 hours accrued per day 18 days per month x 4 = 72. Monthly guarantee is 76.
So crew scheduling could be within the recently updated rules (hopefully someone can post the new rules) to have us at the airport everyday and not with a 2 hour call out.
If thats the case I am going to need to start doing some things now to prepare myself to spend 8 hours a day, 18 days a month sitting in the airport.

So should we expect to spend 8 hours a day, 18 days a month, in sets of 4 or 5 days in a row in the airport- past security and checked in on ready reserve?

agreed. It also doesn’t say we need to be through security. Some hubs have multiple terminals each with their own security - are you supposed to harness quantum mechanics or something to be available to all of them? SFO crew room to DL gates , not gonna happen in 20.
