No nothing that drastic was changed. It’s still long call (12hr callout) short call am/pm (2hr call out) and ready reserve the changes made were to aspects of ready reserve assignment and notification and missed the mark pretty bad in terms of what the pilot group actually wanted.

Thanks for putting up with all of my newb questions. I do appreciate everyone's input.

Okay! I appreciate it and I definitely agree that it’s constantly changing. There’s been some people I know still on reserve after a year or so on both the ERJ and CRJ but at other regionals with growth the reserve time is much less. I just wanted to see what was actually going on before I made my decision. Thank you

I mean, Covid stopped everything cold. But by next month everything will be moving at pre-pandemic speeds.
For reference… I sat reserve for 3 weeks before I got a line. If you’re willing to go to the junior base for a line, you will most likely be able to hold one very very quickly.

Thanks. How often do you swap between ready reserve and and short call? Say for a "normal" four day assigned reserve week, is it split 2 and 2 or is it a little more complicated based on bidding and seniority? I'm assuming the long call reserve goes more senior from what I've been reading..

I came from the outside world myself. Transportation industry too. Thought and questioned many of the same things as you. The reality is this is a great job in a terribly ********* industry. Flying is great.
But don’t sweat it. Recommend that you just know that there is a big suck at the start. The company isn’t trying to ruin your life, it’s just the business. If I heard right, crews got to DEN last night and there were no hotel rooms available for them…… That really sucks.
I was mil fix wing, there was suck there too. Although, at least we had hotel rooms.
Just leave the ascot home.

I like how people justify having 11 days off when the rest of your time is spent away from home, or are spent commuting, or whatev.
I've worked since I was 7, cleaning buildings with my parents. I got paid $2 a night, and some of you guys have an ego boner about working abusive work hours. Demand more, expect better. You and/or your family deserve it.

You’re walking into reserve life at a regional. It’s going to be less than fun no matter where you go.
Don’t let this discourage you.
Think of it this way, on the days that you’re scheduled to work crew support owns you.
The best advice/saying I heard was if you’re scheduled to work, expect to work.
If you’ve worked a job outside the aviation industry, you have an comparative reference and realize that it’s still an awesome job. If you haven’t, you complain because you ONLY get a minimum of 12 days off a month and have to work 30-50% of the days you’re scheduled to work.
Give a pilot a suitcase full of bricks and he complain about how heavy it is.

edit. These RR changes are legacy ZM works. ZM has a lot of fans because he had good intentions but all of his policies made things worse. The RESERVE guy before him had a lot of great stuff almost signed before he left. None of those survived because they were gains not ground losing compromises.
