Thanks for the insight. What do you mean by “out of the system”? I’m guessing you mean that DEN trips are to outstation and back to the hub, and repeat while COS might go between different hubs more?
So you wouldn’t really find yourself in LAX or SFO from DEN, but might from COS?

At COS it is much much quicker to get from the parking lot to the gate, so your total time will be similar. There are plenty of 4 days in COS, but there are NO stand-ups. I personally find this to be a big plus, but there are some out there who like the stand ups and somehow do them repeatedly. As someone mentioned, almost nothing is commutable. You’ll either have a very early show or very late release. COS trips mostly go through DEN, SLC, ORD, or IAH right now. Before COVID they got a fair amount of LAX and SFO as well.
DEN is a fairly large base while COS is fairly small. Which is better is personal preference.

Pre Covid, i would have told you immediately. We did have a few DEC. Now days, anything anyone tells you is a guesstimate at best and a direct lie at worst.
Which airframe are you looking to go to?
The 175 is super senior and you need about 5 year seniority to be the plug.
And due to covid we probably have over 1000 FO's who meet the requirement to upgrade and have their bid in. So at the moment i would not expect to upgrade any time soon.
On a good note, DEN is growing like crazy right now and is one of, if not the most junior bases we have.

How do upgrades work?
Say I'm a CRJ FO at LAX, will the company announce need for ERJ Captain at ORD and you bid for it and hold it if you're senior enough? Or is upgrade only available to me when the need is for a CRJ LAX captain? And is it all purely seniority driven?

You bid what you can hold wherever in the system. The fastest path maybe ER7 FO LAX to CRJ CA DEN - who knows.
some folks may prefer to upgrade in the jet they are used to and there is some rationale for that. But it will likely take longer to hold ER7 CA.
training folks can weigh in but ER7 FOs had a harder time to adapt to CRJ flying in the past vs the other way around (more training issues, special tracking etc.). You actually have to fly a GA and not just push buttons in the CRJ.

it is all seniority driven (with some BS exceptions around “operational need”)
