I understand they're not going to do it. They asked what we'd like to hear. That's what I would like. Mesa has been sending monthly updates to the pool. They're not guaranteeing anything either but its nice to hear something. And some guy called me a he. Not a he.

So the company plans to grow ERJ pilots via the CRJ transition route? Maybe, perhaps, someday, street hiring of mil and 121 pilots. Feels like a cost savings.

I agree with that.

I don't want to make my identity too obvious on here. But I am on my second career. And female. And despite all the **** that's happened since I became a pilot, I still prefer aviation to the last career. This assumption is off. I apologize for an idealistic post that made me look naive. I can see that doesn't fly on the forums. Please stop roasting me.

Looking at the vacancy report, not much CRJ growth (just 20% of those in class today). Looks like CRJ growth is ERJ transition borne. Fine. But that growth will be slow.

Easier to run all new hires through one program.
Also, in my (and many others) opinions, all new hires really should start on the CRJ to learn how to fly a jet before moving to the ERJ which has a much higher level of automation. CRJ->ERJ pilots produce a much better product. I believe the failure rate from the last few months of normal ERJ new hire classes was less than optimal.
Also, once the new AA -700’s come online in DFW over the next few months, I’d expect to see CRJ upgrade classes... and then eventually the ERJ coming online in Q4 as well for AA.
The next 6 months of training department schedules should be interesting.

You guys also need to realize WHY Mesa is sending out updates like that.
They have a much harder time keeping people interested in their company. Their hiring pool is much much smaller than companies like Skywest/Republic/Endeavor/Envoy/etc.. and for good reason.

I was wrong to say slow growth. Its growth. Growth is growth. Which is awesome. Hoping it kick-starts a third class.

I think some weaker pilots targeted the 175 thinking the fly-o-matic would help them. As far as all new hires going into the CRJ it will make furlough cheaper and easier if they can drain the (likely to be) parked fleet.

Can’t disagree with that.
And when it comes time for those weak 175 only pilots to upgrade, it really exacerbates the problems and it’s almost impossible to hide deficiencies.
