While less effective against the new strain it still provides protection.
It's not as bad as you describe it.

My guess is hiring will start up in the last two months of the year. That will account for the few months of training time required to get new people in seats come 2022 spring rush.

I know we are all ready for MOA to come to an end soon. But has anybody done an analysis on how this affect our reserve staffing? While it will change on a base by base basis I have a feeling a lot of people are going find themselves on reserve. Anyone?

So you’re saying reserve staffing will be at the proper rate instead of 1-2 people per base?
Sounds terrible.

Huh? The majority of bases are at proper staffing for reserves now. There are a handful now, even with leaves, that are very fat on reserves. End of MOAs will shed light on how overstaffed we actually are. I'm hoping SAPA can renegotiate CPTO/VTO options as there is still a huge demand for the options from the pilots. Per the last SAPA call 1500 pilots still request leaves on a monthly basis. Guarantees do need to be brought back in full though.

Claxstarr I don’t know your specific base/seat/fleet, but the numbers are currently about 1 in 3 fleet/seat are on reserve company wide.
I’m guessing they may try to keep a CPTO/VTO option for CRJ bros but the ERJ domiciles is not in the same boat.
I don’t believe the “right sizing” of the fleet types has finished.
There might be a month or two of reserve sits, but summer will pick back up (Jan/Feb always see reduced hours) and I’m sure CC is moving people for the future.... like he historically has.
But let’s play devils advocate.. if we do have 30% reserve staffing as you’re thinking it wouldn’t be the first time an airline has seen it. We have been quite spoiled with the amount of flying we’ve historically had. If this did happen, it would be time for the pilot group to demand SAPA to do something about the garbage reserve rules. But alas, the student council won’t do damn thing about it. Remember when the ready reserve assignments were supposed to be a “temporary MOU”? Pepperidge farms remembers.
Something has to be coming down the pipeline if CC brought back 200+ people from the training furlough.

What are you talking about? I'm thinking more like than 2-5 years reserve right now, went from 50ish% on the CRJ to 94% on the ERJ and no movement... This is way longer than 2 months...

Well it depends on your situation. What base and what seat are you currently holding? I think he or she was referring to the amount of available lines increasing.
