Changes to the program will be announced as things progress, and then they’ll change their minds later on. Bid on what is delivered, pay no attention to what is promised. Follow that simple rule and this career is a lot less stressful.
Pretty sure C5 is getting 175s

I wonder 1) who is paying for them 2) where are they coming from.
I’m pretty sure OO has a lock on the 175 production line.

Pretty sure they said the same thing about XJT. They got them, then they lost them, then they were let go. They could just as easily tell SkyWest and Republic that they need to have pilots only fly one contract to keep the United owned 175’s that they operate. They could then offer Aviate to them just like they do Mesa and avoid the cost of another shuffle. UAX is going to go through some potentially big changes in the next few years. I wouldn’t want to put money on any option since United has a history of saying one thing, and doing another. All anyone can do is sit, watch, and hope that they don’t draw the short straw.

There are 2 things about C5 that United likes and 2 things only.

1. They are cheap.
2. They fly planes that are 100% owned (no finance).

Adding a 175 to that mix will ruin everything!

Are you sure that's exactly what he said? Also, Mesa doesn't fly exclusively for United.

That is hilarious that you think that United would even consider asking SkyWest and Republic to drop their other contracts in order to keep flying the 175's United owns.

It was a spoof about when Kirby and Munoz said early in the pandemic that the 50 seaters would be gone under any scenario, yet 2/3 of the Aviate airlines that are left fly only 50 seaters.

Mesa doesn’t fly exclusively for United, but from what I understand, their pilots fly for one contract at a time. Only those flying exclusively for United can be in Aviate. If they were to bid over to an American side, they’d no longer be qualified to be in the Aviate program.

That’s not what I meant. I meant that if their pilots flew exclusively for each contract they would be qualified for Aviate just like Mesa. SkyWest pilots flying exclusively for United would qualify, those flying exclusively for another company wouldn’t. Personally, I don’t expect SkyWest or Republic to want that. They are big and will be around for a long time and don’t really have recruitment problems.

Times are tough Jim, let’s torpedo our economies of scale so people who don’t work here yet can “Aviate”.
