I realize this may be different than what the current topic of this forum is though I didn't want to make a completely new thread to ask. I also may be ridiculed about this question as it may not be the time to think about something like this, though it is something that will apply in the long term.
Does anyone feel that SkyWest may be added to the list of UAX carriers to fly for when in Aviate? Of the three current ones, two of those futures seem dicey in the long run with their fleet type and Aviate is a long term United plan. So does it seem logical that SkyWest would be added? Is it something SkyWest itself would/(n't) want? It's already a Delta Propel carrier. Just a question to think about for the long term of United hiring.

Nobody knows is Aviate will even be around after this.

Right before $hit hit the fan SAPA sent out an email survey on “Flow”, including listing 1-5 top airlines you’d want to “Flow” too. That email came directly after announcements made by DL and UA making claims they needed to hire 1,000’s of pilots to keep up with demand in the next X years (forgot the specifics).
I don’t think SAPA would have sent out an email like that if those type of talks were not being pushed through management. At this moment in time I could give a rats ass about flow or aviate, I’m just happy to have a job.

JA asked them if they knew UA’s market cap/value.
None of them did and he proceeded to threaten to pay cash and buy UA.
OO management has always been ruthless and CC is even smarter than JA was.
And yes, OO management have turned down direct flows to UA & DAL (multiple times) because INC makes more money flying for everyone.

Could anyone explain the structure or purpose of aviate? Is it essentially an enhanced straw to be used to suck regionals dry if UA ever gets into a situation where they need Airbus pilots more than they need RJ flow?
Or is it more to help regionals with their recruiting? In which case, is there a cost to the regional? Flowback?

☝️ This
Aviate is a legit program and I’m happy to hear they’re not dropping the program... yet...
But to say it’s used to suck those regionals dry is a stretch. The true intention behind the program was to keep those UA regionals staffed. Before COVID those regionals were having a tough time with reserve lines stretched thin. It’s not a flow by any means either.
If you don’t fit the UA model and they decide to pass on your talents, now they got you locked in on the lowest pay in the regionals. That’s called a win-win.

According to the Aviate website, the participating airlines are now Air Wisconsin, CommutAir, and Mesa. It’s ironic that 2/3 of the airlines in their recruitment program only operate aircraft that will be “a thing of the past under any scenario”. Could it be that an airline execs said something that people wanted to hear at the time with no real plan to follow through? Nah, they’d never do that. Changes to the program will be announced as things progress, and then they’ll change their minds later on. Bid on what is delivered, pay no attention to what is promised. Follow that simple rule and this career is a lot less stressful.
