Default West Coast Options for New Hire

I’m looking to move to Colorado later this year and would prefer to avoid commuting. What’s the rundown for DEN and COS bases for an entry FO? Likelihood of holding a base? Reserve and upgrade times? Is there much movement in DEN?

It sounds like the new E175 guys are most likely going to LGA this summer? Would the CRJ be a better option now for someone who wants to stay west of the contintnental divide?

I’d be open to other bases in the west if they provide a better quality of life for my wife and myself.

I would not come to SKW if a West coast base is necessary.

CRJ is short in DTW and ATL. You will be going there. ERJ is growing in ORD and LGA, you would go there on that aircraft.

Doesn't TSA/GoJ still have a DEN base? CPZ all bases west of DEN? QX in the PNW? Better pay too.

Take a look on the domicile map on the SkyWest Pilot Career Guide website. You'll get a look at seniority for each aircraft/domicile/seat. If upgrade times don't bug you and the west coast is your primary goal I would stay on the ERJ. Most west coast domiciles have seen a serious reduction of CRJ flying. 2018 ERJ growth isn't just east coast flying- look at SAN, PDX, SLC, etc. If you are looking to get out ASAP then go CRJ and take the fastest upgrade... Just remember that either aircraft you choose you're going to be initially commuting. CRJ will be ATL or DTW. ERJ will be ORD or LGA.

Don't take the CRJ for west coast.

Might want to check out Compass since they have LAX, SEA, and PHX only.

It’s attainable pretty quick as an FO but if you plan on taking the first upgrade. Then, may want to think about going elsewhere.
