Default DTW Base Questions

  • Is DTW a junior base? If so, what equipment is junior?
  • Does Skywest have CDO lines in DTW or anywhere? Are they junior or senior typically?

Thanks in advance.

DTW is the most junior base. CRJ only. They have CDOs and since most DTW guys wre commuters, junior guys can get CDO's there.

Continuous Duty Overnight.

You leave the hub around midnight, fly to an outstation, get a hotel (all while still on duty), and fly back to the hub very early in the morning. Also known as 'naps' or 'stand-ups.'

Midnight? Don't they leave more like 9pm so that you get around 5+ hours at a hotel?

I guess I was a bit too specific; at my last airline job, the CDOs I flew often left around midnight. I suppose there's nothing that says they can't leave around 2100 local.

Our standups typically depart between 1900 and 2200...a 'great' standup gives you 8 hours in the hotel, while a lousy one gives you maybe 4.5 hours. The absolute minimum is 3 hours in the hotel, but they are never planned with that short a rest.

The only time standups depart at midnight is when the inbound plane is late, or something breaks.

Thank you for that information.
