Ours actually defines excessive so that both sides, and most importantly, all pilots are treated fairly and consistently. If you have a doctor's note, it'll never be excessive. No need for interpreting anything. And if you don't have a note, then there is a set number of attendance events within the last 12 months before you get a verbal warning. Again, no need for interpreting what excessive means. I simply don't understand why pilots wouldn't want terms defined so that everyone is on the same page and everything is consistent. Of course there is a real reason why management wouldn't want it defined though. Another one of those things where the two sides have differing set of interests.
