That's why I think it's hilarious when people turn their nose up at 1.5-2 year upgrade times. Sorry but unless you have previous time, that's about how long it takes to be qualified.

That was my point. He claimed that voting in the TA guaranteed a quick upgrade. I was simply pointing out that the upgrade can't get any quicker than it already is.

The 100 plane master plan:
1. 100 Expressjet planes +/- released back to Delta
2. Skywest immediately picks up the Delta planes and the contracts to fly them.
3. All eligible Skywest pilots offered immediate upgrade to captain. Only about 150 can do it/ or want to do it.
4. 400 more captains needed to fly the planes.
5. Expressjet pilots allowed to come to Skywest at the bottom of the list and 500 are able to immediately bid and hold captain.
6. Expressjet pilots are given their longevity pay.
In a short period of time Expressjet loses 100 and Skywest gains 100 planes. The problem of no remaining pilots being captain qualified is eliminated. Longevity pay makes Expressjet pilots coming over reasonably happy.
Too bad Delta stepped in the way and sent the planes elsewhere.

Yeah the point is that it can't get any lower. The reason it went to 9 months is because FOs senior enough don't want to upgrade and the ones that wanted to weren't eligible. So it bypassed a bunch of people until it hit some at 9 months that were qualified to upgrade.

I doubt SKW would really want to deal with a bunch of justifiably PO-ed senior XJT people as street CA's. As a last resort perhaps, and I'm sure they'll take a few here and there.

Let me know what I am missing which I am sure is a lot. (I was with an airline which was taken over and they took half the pilots. I was in the non-taken half and wish I had been taken.)

I think you will see more light shed mid September. Lots going on, I believe Air Willy and ASA are just the tip of the "regional reshuffle".

And I don't think ANY senior CA will be leaving for skyw. Most, including myself, would rather go to an AA WO, LCC, etc... I hear some ATL folks are considering EDV and PSA. I do not no a single pilot considering skyw. I know a few who were considering it but now have interviews or CJO's with Envoy.
Funny how Chip would rather lose a 1000 of us to his competitors, rather than taking care of a huge insurance policy he has for when y'all can't fill classes. And that day will come. Even he briefed congress on his pilot hiring concerns. LMAO chip!!
