No, they should walk a mile (year) in a man's moccasins before they get to make decisions about his future. There's a reason that EVERYBODY else does it that way...

Yes, you're exactly right. I make the decisions until you're an adult airline pilot. I understand that many folks come from 121/135/military, but it would be hard to allow/disallow voting based on age or prior experience so the one year rule is best.

Everybody else does it that way, and so did SKW until SAPA and the company pushed through this change without a vote by the rest of us.

But if you fly a guppy you should already know this, right?

So how would you suggest to prevent this type of scenario?......

We weren't aware of selling out our fellow pilots. With the benefit of hindsight, I probably wouldn't have voted at all.
I would rather see people who come from other carriers not be able to vote in their first year at Skywest than allow everyone to. When you do that you put your fate in the hands of people who know nothing about the industry. Their votes might as well be cast by management themselves because they are all told which way they need to vote from day one.
If/when I go elsewhere, I will not expect or feel that I have a right to vote while still on probation.

Why is this Mercyful troll so hotly interested in our affairs? He claims to be working somewhere else, yet he is the most diehard, pro-management user in this subforum. Obviously this person is either a fanatical SLC lifer gushing kool aid from every corporal orifice or has strong SAPA connections. I bet that he has a portrait of Chip in his living room to which salutation is given every morning, and RJ models situated next to his nightstand Kleenex box. Back on my ignore list shall he be placed.

Wouldn't be surprised to see the $7,500 bonus get offered to everyone in the next year or so.

So, because there are a few longtime people who are clueless, you must allow the new hires, who most likely are all clueless, to vote? I doubt if you really believe that.

It's nice to have dreams.

We just locked in a 1% per year 5 year deal. They don't like using the "B" word around here.
