The people who have been going to SW assumed they would get a big raise like everyone else in the regionals. Now everyone knows that SW will be less than flat for the next 5 years so any idea that SW will maintain a competitive pay scale is out the window.

They will go to Air Wisconsin, Envoy, Endeavor and take the extra 70k over 3 years.

SW is going to take the lead in whining to congress that there are "no pilots out there to hire". I hope that congress can figure out that there are no doctors, lawyers, accountants, engineers, or garbage men out there at 34,000 per year either. As for Captains, there are no experienced doctors, attorneys, engineers, garbage men, ect out there for 62000 either.

Maybe we should all whine that there are no congressmen out there at 34000 and we need the government to make some or bring in foreigners for these congressman's jobs that americans just won't do?

Yup. And ever more junior pilots are leaving in greater numbers upon recognizing the TA as the utter insult it is to our profession.

Found this on the internet: For example, the median entry-level salary for a legal services attorney in the U.S. is $42,000; at 11-15 years of experience the median is $62,550. Pay for public defenders and local prosecuting attorneys is somewhat higher, with a median of $47,500 for entry-level public defenders and increasing to about $76,000 for those with 11-15 years of experience. For local prosecuting attorneys, the corresponding figures are $50,000 and $81,500.

Sounds like many regional pilots have it better.

Well don't you feel silly.
Chip-away has publicly given his support for the 1500 rule.
...and already sat in front of congress. You can read what he told them.

The median includes middle-America, ie low cost of living. Most regional pilots are based in hubs like NYC, SFO, LAX, ORD, SEA, etc

Yes. SKW can apparently still attract 1500 hour pilots. Many of our competitors cannot, the bottom-feeders are the ones who really want 200-hour airline pilots back.

Do you have a link? The video I watched a little while back of him in front of congress seemed to be the opposite. I don't remember him being in favor of the 1500 rule, but rather reporting how difficult it is or will be to fill seats because of it.
But like I said it was a little while ago now and it was fairly long so I may have to try dig it up and rewatch it to be sure.

Legal services jobs are mainly volunteer or very low pay jobs for free or low cost legal services for the poor and elderly. Public defenders are usually part time trying to gain a little experience when nobody else will hire them. If they start to get good at it they are often hooked on the job. Like a pilot. Government attorneys, low wages, low stress, but great benefits , time off, and big retirement after only a few years.

And just like pilots, there are a lot of incompetent attorneys who you could hire but who can't get the job done. Same with pilots, there are many pilots who would be willing to work for 20,000 a year but who cannot pass a proficiency check.

So I think we are talking about competent pilots/attorneys/doctors, etc who can get the job done.
