Sure, because you can only see what's right in front of you. That same CA sitting reserve in ORD still has almost a year before his AA number comes up....after 11 years. If you think all things will remain equal during the next 10 years, you're kidding yourself. If you think that 20K bonus will be enough to make you happy with sitting reserve in LGA, then yes, to each their own.
All this bonus talk is funny. Money in your face right now is great....until it's time to pay the piper.
Best hope bombs don't fly in Korea, and the inevitable market downturn is softer than 2008/09.

I'll take the career progression over at Envoy over the career progression that Skyw gives you.
Hmmm. If the bombs fly in N. Korea or Iran, or oil goes back up, do you think you will be sheltered from the pain because you are at the mighty Skyw? How many 200's do y'all operate? I remember how fast 200's got parked by DL last time oil hit $100/barrel. DL is a ruthless partner. You are not immune with the large exposure you have to the 200 fleet.

Yes. I will gladly take $20,000 day one over the bonus skyw offers. And FYI, not all new hires go to LGA. And with hiring, plus MIA opening, a new pilot won't be stuck in LGA for long.

The Skywest example that I gave fared much better during the 08/09 crash. Maybe it won't be so the next time.
You pointed out career progression, yet my examples clearly showed the better career progression....by a long shot. I'm not talking about new hires, I'm pointing out the career progression from new hire to left seat and beyond. Your 20K bonus won't last long in NY or Miami, and how long for upgrade at Envoy? If my example is 11 year CA still sitting reserve, and won't go to AA til 2018, how is that favorable career progression?

I'm not at either airline. I just pointed out examples that I personally know.

Last Envoy bid had upgrade at 3 months.
You keep mentioning the $20K bonus not lasting long in LGA. How long would the no bonus last a new hire at skyw on reserve in SFO? ORD? DTW? And again, a new hire at Envoy will not be stuck in LGA long with the amount of movement there.
Unless you live out west, I no longer see any benefit in going to skyw. They just locked themselves into a 5 year deal that does not even keep up with inflation.

Just what is the deal for XJT pilots that come over to SkyWest? You'd get the $7500 bonus for having a type, come over with how ever many years you had at XJT for pay, vacation, and 401K? Non rev off the XJT date of hire?

That's my understanding. Once you upgrade, you'd be back in the money so to speak, just sucking hind boob on seniority. There are worse deals in the airline world. At least a holding pattern while you get your apps out.

You almost seem giddy that our sister company is being dumped on. I have some good friends over there that are having a tough time with this. Put yourself in their shoes and see how you'd feel. I'd hope our pilots would welcome them with open arms if they chose to come here. A majority of their group lives in Atlanta and have for a very long time. Suddenly being forced to commute, uproot their family, or get a new job is easy on no one. I hope all of our pilots here understand the amount of stress, uncertainty, and anger those families are going through before getting too excited about opening a new base there, even though that decision is out of our control.
