For our sake?

That is the funniest thing I have ever seen posted. The only reason you have flying is because your cheaper. As you become more expensive, you become worthless.

Does SkyWest have any plans for new hire & retention bonuses? As someone who plans to be based out of ORD, just about every regional with a Chicago base is paying $20,000+ in bonuses with similar or better upgrade times. I'd love to work for the company, but I'm not going to deny my family a huge improvement in quality of life.

Doubtfull... we do have a "pilot profit sharing" program.. I think you come to SkyWest based on knowing they have been in business for 40 years, never layed pilots off, always grown, and pay is Close to top Industry average.. if you choose Say Air Wisconsin, they have changed there business model twice in the last 5 years, (AA to UA) and realy haven't grown in years...and now pilots are changing bases again. (Yes we have had our share of bases open/close). Realy look around at what you want ORD is one of our jr bases for both aircraft.. and our largest base.. Honestly, good luck asking a question like that on here.. search out pilots that fly at ORD based airlines that you know and go to luch with them and talk...

Solid advice. The aforementioned reasons you listed are definitely my draw to the company, it's just hard to bypass cash in hand based on company reputation in an expensive area.

I get the lure of the $$$$. Look longterm. You will get that money back in lifestyle, no commuting.. ect. Talked to a jumpseater. He already has spent $5k this year on hotels and crash pads!! And has years of commuting left... but then again he got a bonus at his airline. But thats a one time thing... Now hes paying for it...

Isn't that the goal?? What's so funny about us asking for higher pay? We do collectively deserve more. If mainline doesn't want to pay more to contract out their flying then please take it all back. At the end of the day that would be a major victory for this profession as a whole.

If you are wanting to be based at ORD, you would be crazy not to go to Envoy. $20,000 bonus paid day 1, retention bonus paid every quarter year 2, upgrade less than a year (a bit longer for ORD but at least you have the option), and no interview flow to AA. Real career progression. SKYW can't offer you that!

Good luck.

Very True.. i went for that carrot back in the mid 90's. Eagle, Flow, fast upgrade . ect.. will it didn't pan out. I left Eagle for SkyWest, Happy i did. Don't count on what you see now as how it will pan out for you.. If i would have stayed i would have flowed 16 years later. But would have missed out on my kids growing up...

Honestly SkyWest is nothing after that 1% pay increase and after inflation is a paycut.... take advantage of this right now and get that money you and your family deserve and go elsewhere. "never laid anyone off." That can change in a heart beat. SkyWest has been so overhyped these past few years and you're not doing yourself any favor taking a paycut at a regional flying for skywest when you can get the same upgrade time and better pay elsewhere. Were here for the short haul not the long haul. I'm sure a bunch of cheerleaders will tell you how cool the E 175 in SkyWest paint is but the reality is they don't even offer much in terms of pay and career advancement compared to the rest. Atleast envoy will have a flow to a major after all those bonuses while skywest has what.... ?
