I don't know why we as a pilot group don't fight to get rid of this historical credit deal. 93:10 of block and 85:51 of credit. A 7:19 difference. At any other airline we would get that 7:19 of pay.

There's no way you can compare our pay rates to other airlines as long as we do this.

It's called skimming off the top.

Not really.

SKYW doesn't get paid for marketing block - just for actual block (plus performance incentives). So this Credit vs. Block game keeps their cost better in line with actual revenue.

Yes, we are no participating in automatic "raises" driven by increases in marketing block that other regionals are getting.

But it's not like SKYW is getting paid more and pockets the difference.

Having said that, I wouldn't mind getting paid more regardless.

In essence they are. Everyone one else, every single other regional airline pilot, gets paid off of marketing block and while the company gets revenue from actual block. It just means that management accounts for a bit less profit margin because of that. Skywest doesn't have to. It's brilliant on management's part!

I'm going to guess that Skywest doesn't get paid when a flight cancels for maintenance. Should you be paid when your flight cancels due to maintenance?

While I'm employed for a subcontractor I'm very in favor of our system.
The incentives are aligned. Our customers can fix it if they have a problem.

Why wouldn't you get paid when your flight cancels due to maintenance?! That's crazy talk.
