Default Michael Chertoff (MH370) it could be pilots

This is from the transcript of NBC Meet the Press, 3-23-14

It seems I am compared with the likes of a Edward Snowden. How do we know if and when these guys like Chertoff are going "off the rails"?

DAVID GREGORY:
So what do you worry about now? There's a scenario that took place that we're trying to piece together. And after 9/11, when we thought so much about aviation security, are there new things that we need to learn from here?
MICHAEL CHERTOFF:

I think there are. Obviously one of the theories, but it's not proven yet, is that one or more of the pilots may have been involved in this. And of course, much of our screening has been focused on passengers. But now increasingly we face the question of what we call "inside threats."
What do you do when people who are working in an organization or an enterprise become a problem? It could be pilots, it could be members of a crew, we've seen a variation of that with Snowden. So I think the issue of screening and understanding when people are going off the rails inside the enterprise is going to become more of an issue.

MICHAEL CHERTOFF:
Well, I think one of the key issues will be what do they find in the background of the pilots. Now I don't want to accuse them of anything, but clearly, if there were something there.

MICHAEL CHERTOFF:
Again, you can speculate, there can be a motive for it that's a benign motive or there can be a more sinister motive. So I think that's going to be a key issue this week.

Yea, right; a young single F/O who is chasing tail on three continents and a Captain who is heavily involved in the freedom movement in his country. They really fit the profile of someone going off the rails...

It unfortunately is one of the most plausible scenarios at this point.

What a crock. Just like every smoking hole is the pilots fault, that is, until a proper investigation is complete and the facts are presented.

Welcome to the Tin Foil Hat Society there Buckwheat.

Since we're talking motive, how about Mr. Chertoff's motive to drum up talk about terrorism and security related causes for the crash? Certainly it's not because his security firm would profit from something like that. At least there's more evidence for that than wildly speculating about the pilots.

It is a crock. Chertoff is a fear-mongering piece of $hit that seeks to capitalize on a tragedy for his own firm that is loaded with ex-DHS officials eager to suck off the federal teat.

I'm sorry, I must have missed where I said that is certainly what happened? Would you care to point that out? Be specific...

I also missed the list where you lined up all the "plausible causes" with that gem at the top. Do you have a shred of evidence to suggest that your theory is anything more than a WAG? (Be Specific! )

That's what I thought, Buckwheat.

Look at the sequence of events when stuff was shut off, when the plane was turned, when comms were stopped. That does point logically toward someone with syetems knowlege of the 777 intentionally shutting it off and intentionally turning the aircraft more than anything. Was it one or both of the pilots? A hijacker or hijackers? Les Abend? We may never know.
