NO....Qatar is NOT an emirate.... it is a country all to itself. There are SEVEN Emirates which comprise the UAE....Qatar is NOT among them.

What? Huck has it right. Qatar is an emirate. It's just not part of the UAE. In fact, the Qatari Emir just abdicated to his son a couple months ago.

Actually Huck is correct. Qatar is an Emirate but not in the UAE. Back in 1971 Qatar was an Emirate/City State along with Dubai, Abu Dhabi among others. The idea was for Qatar to be a part of the newly created UAE along with Dubai and Abu Dhabi. However Qatar declined and decided to go its own way.

I think the confusion lies in what an emirate means. It is not a country/area per se, but the way it is ruled.

What difference, at this point, does it make?

Al Jazeera is hideously slanted towards its agenda, far more than Fox or any other "tilted" news bureau.

As for the NTSB, I'd rather hear what THEY have to say at any time but especially early in an investigation, vs. media "experts" who rely on Microsoft Flight Simulator for their experience. Especially if the information is simply CVR transcripts or data from the recorder.

Man, isn't that the truth. Journalism is truly dead in this country.
