Default BA Flight 762 Emergency shuts down Heathrow

Getting sketchy details. One engine or two, birds etc. Heathrow to Oslo. Airbus A319. Right engine trailing smoke, left engine missing cowl in flight.

Well done crew!

Doesn't look like a birdstrike to me. No bloodstains; no visible dents in wing leading edge or engine inlet leading edges (from the passenger video). Finally, if it had been a birdstrike, with internal engine damage, I don't think it would just symmetrically remove both cowl panels.

To me, looks like someone was doing maintenance on both engines, and the cowls weren't latched properly.

There's a long history of that on Airbi and CRJs.
