Reputation
There are several general aviation aircraft that have a "bad reputation" (T-tailed Piper, fork tailed Dr. Killer, etc).
The Cherokee 6 is not one of them as far as I know.
ps. GA aircraft do not generally have black boxes - the pilot will be a critical source of info. As pointed out earlier, 7 people onboard is a red flag. Other things the NTSB will look at: was the aircraft departing or arriving, what was the weather, how much did the 7 weigh and where were they seated, was there baggage and where was it, how much fuel was on board?

I happen to love them (and the price stays low because of the rep) but you don't want to get slow on final as you don't get the propwash you would get with a conventional tail - the pitch becomes unresponsive below a certain speed. Surprise!
Almost forgot the Tomahawk...never been in one but that's got a nasty rep as well.

Interesting accident report, he took off, returned, did a run up, took off again, and crahsed just after lift off....
Sounds like he knew something wasn't right, returned, did the runup and tried to take off again...and then the motor lost power, for what ever reason, but seems he had an inkling something wasn't quite right after the first takeoff.

i'm hoping he double checked the fuel selector while he was on the ground doing the run up.
hopefully he'll remember something when the FAA interviews him. he suffered some pretty severe head injuries according to other reports.
