The same as it is to expect pilots to fly those planes until the bitter end.

They may or may not be the most skilled, but I doubt any of them would intentionally do shoddy work. They may be overworked and may have made a mistake, but I still think those who remain are doing the best they can.

I don't know about you, but all the mx guys I have talked to (Colgan and at other companies) try to do their best. Nobody wants somebody's blood on their hands.

Maybe I am a fool, but I like to believe we are all still professionals.

I am fairly sure this is the same aircraft that did an air return back to IAD while on the way to HPN the day before due to engine vibrations. And this happens the very next day in the same plane...

Same thing happened at Eagle a few weeks ago. On the first day, they declared an emergency and landed without any issues after experiencing some gear indications. The very next day, same plane, same problem. Only that time, they went off the runway onto the grass. Sometimes the mechanics just can't find anything wrong with it or think they fixed it when they haven't. Or maybe it is because both companies are in bankruptcy?

Most of the IAD Colgan mechanics found other jobs and jumped ship. They are severely undermanned at this time. I cannot blame them

Yea but they were screwing stuff up even before the announcement but then again the saabs are old maybe those planes are just tired. Still doesn't really explain the 2 Q's but I dunno...

Q nose gear up landing, Q precautionary shutdown a month or so back, now a Saab precautionary shutdown.

I think they need to stop writing Ops Check Ok to clear the discrepancy.

Well my single-engine Saab landing a couple of years ago didn't get this kind of coverage but it's still on the web

I don't blame the mechanics and in no way do I think anyone would do bad work on purpose.

It's a matter of the best mechanics have already bailed for other jobs. What is left are the mechanics who can't yet find another job (for whatever reason) and there is obviously not enough of them. There is no chance that Colgan (Pinnacle) will hire to replace those that are leaving.

Simple math is...

less mechanics+ less qualified mechanics =more instances.
