A friend of mine once had an encounter well beyond the airport limits, at night, about 2000 AGL, with a flock of Canada Geese. One penetrated his p135 Aero-Commander's windshield, blinding his copilot. Two more hit engine cowlings. The fourth hit the horizontal stabilizer. Oh yeah... totaled the aircraft too, because the tail spar had no PMA source to replace.

I'm all for wildlife management, but no matter what we do around airports, it won't eliminate all bird strikes. Fate is still the hunter.
