I got a ditch button on my airplane too. I guess MD was as smart as Airbus!

BIG kudos to the ENTIRE crew!!!
I'm not an Airbus guy, but here is what the Ditching Swtich on the MD-11 does:

When ON, the DITCHING switch,
• Inhibits GPWS.
• Maintains exiting cabin altitude
• Shuts off packs at 2500 feet radio height or when cabin differential
pressure is less than 0.5 psi.
• Closes avionics shutoff valve.
• Closes ram air door (if open).
• Closes outflow valve.

I bet the Airbus performs these and/or similar functions!

Does the Geneva convention consider that to be torture? Seriously, that was a nice comment she made...

I'd prefer water boarding!

Hats off to the whole entire crew of this flight. This is a prime example of good CRM and great flying abilities. That my friend is why one day I hope to fly for US Air.

True, true...I was amazed at how many dudes were going CRAZY at this thing. Some of these guys looked like teenage girls at a Backstreet Boys concert or something. GROWN MEN! In fact, the guy that I was sitting next to was a huge fan of Celine Dion. He got tickets 14 months in advance! I was shocked. He joked about how the ticket scanners took our "man cards" at the door. They might of taken his...I just gave mine to the girlfriend for the night

It's sad that these MAJOR MEDIA OUTLETS haven't a clue, imagine what else you hear from them which is probably not true !

That's a funny pic!

Of course, if the A380 (or A390 ) lost 2 engines, they'd still have 2 more running...
