US Air crash

True, but ingesting birds into both engines at the same time and causing them both to be destroyed is not common. An A-320 should ingest an average size bird and still run. They are saying the flock of birds was so big that the approach contollers could see a return on their radar. Must have been a big flock of big birds.

Due to quality of airmenship this was not a crash but, an incredible job of putting a disabled aircraft down in a densly populated area in such a way that all Pax and crew survived. We all only hope that we will perform as well if ever required.

I look forward to seeing the accident reconstruction of this....looks like it could be a VERY good example of what to do in a bad situation. It would be nice to learn from a situation where the crew did the right thing instead of the other way around. Great job guys!

Check this out......
LaGuardia Airport - AirportMonitor - by Megadata - powered by PASSUR
LaGuardia "Airport Monitor". Change time to 15:26, click start, click on first airplane that departs (turns green) and the flight info is shown on the right.
Looks like N461SA had front row seats (chopper heading north up the river at 1000ft).

Screw him, he's just like all CEO's or heads of any damn industry. What matters is what your peers think and what the passengers think. And both groups think (and know) the flight crew did a damned fine job. As a matter of fact, I would think most pilots in the future starting their careers off will read about this incident in the future as a textbook case for CRM, ditching an aircraft as well as other lessons learned.
On another note, congrats to Airbus for such a well built aircraft. I know (especially here in the US) that the Airbus is sometimes snickered at when compared to Boeing but hell, a intact aircraft after a ditching with the biggest issue being the damn tide taking it down the river because it remained floating!!
