Great Job by the Crew, as well as those involved in the rescue operation. This could have been disasterous. I'm very thankful they could see the river.

On a side note, if the RAT was out and the gear was up I believe the aircraft would still be in NORMAL law, or maybe alternate. Dang it, I guess its time for recurrent already

Hats off to the crew! Amazing that everybody got out safely.

And this presents a rather elegant solution to US Air management for fleet reduction.

Just heard this on FOX BUSINESS

The former DOT director and the news anchors agreed together that Pilots should not be nickled and dimed on their pay. They said how ridiculous it was to think that you can not pay someone well who is a professional and has this many peoples lives in their hands. They went on to discuss how US Air has really stuck it to the pilots in the past, and that they are not being payed what they are worth. They also included cabin crew and Surgeons in the example of people you do not want to skimp pay on. In the end, the DOT Director said she wants her pilots paid well, well rested, an well trained!

Gotta luv them composite 320's, yhey float. Not sure what would've happen if it was a Boeing... Kudos to the crew, a hell of a job.

Ah, I think that's correct. I vaguely remember the ****fight that occurrs when the gear goes down.

I'll believe it when I see it(pay). Otherwise, excellent job to all involved especially to both pilots at the helm. Those prayers in the cabin helped.

Screw him, he's just like all CEO's or heads of any damn industry. What matters is what your peers think and what the passengers think. And both groups think (and know) the flight crew did a damned fine job. As a matter of fact, I would think most pilots in the future starting their careers off will read about this incident in the future as a textbook case for CRM, ditching an aircraft as well as other lessons learned.

On another note, congrats to Airbus for such a well built aircraft. I know (especially here in the US) that the Airbus is sometimes snickered at when compared to Boeing but hell, a intact aircraft after a ditching with the biggest issue being the damn tide taking it down the river because it remained floating!!

I think the accident aircraft was an advanced model - it has 4 buttons - On, Off, Up, Down.

Looks like the crew made the best of a bad day, I hope they found some dry clothes and a warm place away from the media feeding frenzy.

Indeed, I was fretting over this as well.

Very good job by the ENTIRE crew!
