Sounds like they were still at the gate when a laptop caught fire. The crew ordered an evacuation on the ramp. 3 minor injuries.

The cockpit crew or the cabin crew? What about expedited deplaning if there is a jet bridge hooked up?

I'm glad nobody was seriously hurt and I wasn't there but a full evac over a lithium ion battery fire seems overkill. I'm looking forward to the full story.

Do you think it is wise to keep passengers and crew in a pressure vessel with toxic smoke and a very hot and inextinguishable lithium battery fire? I question your judgement.

WTH is an "expedited deplaning"? Did you just make that up? Is that checklist next to the evacuation checklist? Do the pax take all their sh!t with them or do they follow the procedures in the safety demo to leave it all behind? Oh wait, that's the evacuation. Do the pax know what an "expedited deplaning" is since it hasn't been covered in a single one of the hundreds of safety demos I've listened to?

A pressure vessel? The L1 door was wide open and there was presumably ventilation from either the packs or external preconditioned air.

Yes, fires require quick action and it wouldn't be prudent to breathe combustion by-products for long. That's why I suggested expedited deplaning, a procedure that seems tailor made for this sort of situation.

Did that safety demo show going down a slide? Did it show what happens if your rubber shoes catch on the slide and make you tumble down instead of sliding?

The safety demo covers what the regulations say it needs to cover and whatever legal thinks will help in a lawsuit. It is hardly an exhaustive treatise on responding to every situation that can occur on an airplane.

Expedited deplaning is a procedure in my book. I have no idea what is in yours. Since you asked it follows the general leave everything behind and hurry up of an evacuation, it just does it through the already open door into the relatively safe jet bridge instead of down slides on to a dangerous ramp.

Where was the fire? If it was in the bin over the first few rows then perhaps the L1 door would have been a poor choice. The good news is this evacuation went about as well as they can.

Expedited deplaning has been in my FOM as well, and it's a circumstantial judgement.

An evac on slides WILL result in some minor injuries, with a non-zero risk of serious injuries.

Nobody was going to force those people off that airplane until they were darn good and ready!
