First time in the history of aviation that a rudder servo, associated with the autopilot, had an issue. First time evah! Sell Boeing stock! Don't get on one!

From the Reuters article - "With coordination with United, the issue was successfully resolved with the replacement of three parts and the airplane returned to service last month."

Single incident. Not exactly the makings of a four hundred page thriller, let alone a sky-is-falling moment. Several identical events might be noteworthy, with the subsequent issue of a service bulletin or airworthiness directive, but not a single one-off incident.

sealed bearing issue caused by supplier. Only UA affected. Also parts are no longer in use and were replaced some time ago. But the news is making this out to be some huge catastrophe.

Boeing's response for the pilots is what is worrisome. Can you imagine, two strong men standing on the pedal, at 80 knots, when it does give way? Never seen a hoover do a ground loop.
