DOT doesn't test for that, but if you must, and it's your first ever experience, better do it faaaar away from anything aviation.

What's even weirder is reading pilots here attempting to come to this pyschos defense as a 'misunderstanding'.

Didn’t Washington state recently legalize the use of Psychedelic mushrooms?
Lends to a new meaning of a “bad trip”.

Well I’ll ……. Weird is an understatement. I’m speechless and admit that was the 1 scenario I hadn’t considered.

I'd say that now that more information is out, the whole "circle the wagons" thing about defending this guy is probably done. This was very obviously not an accident. It's not like he tripped (no pun intended) or was giving a tap dancing demonstration in the cockpit and accidentally pulled both handles. With that said, it was negligent and unprofessional but it wasn't with premeditated intent - no one does shrooms with the intent of getting in a JS and trying to murder 80+ people. Reminds me in some ways of that crash in Colorado in the 80's (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trans-...es_Flight_2286) when the pilot did a bag of cocaine and then sort of just hung out while his copilot flew the plane into the ground.

It sounds like they got lucky and this guy was a few minutes away from getting much worse, by his own admission. It also sounds like there was a physical struggle in the cockpit and they did subdue him with plastic restraints by his own request, so I say again, BZ to this Horizon crew. They literally saved everyone's lives.

LTD is 60% of last w2 max up to 15k which is about 45% of my last W2. Also no DC on LTD so that’s another 16%

Worst part is that I can’t even smugly say “thank god I fly boxes not passengers” about this whole thing.
