Wait there is talk about Republic creating an IAH base?

Last week while at the interview, the Sr. Talent Acquisition Manager said there was about a potential base in IAH, but this will be done after the BK proceedings end.

I'm fully aware that I sound constantly negative, but after commuting to an outstation base from "out west" at Shuttle America for 4.5 years -all the time hearing management hinting about potential bases in Denver and Houston- reading such things reminds me of my days in law enforcement when I learned to believe only 10% of what I hear and half of what I see.

Republic recruiters are quite famous for being less than truthful....particularly when their job is on the line for not making their numbers.

The irony of the entire situation at RJET (now RJETQ) is that had they dumped these outstation bases 3 years ago, the pool of potential pilots would have greatly expanded had said applicants not faced the oftentimes unpalatable prospect of being forced to move to CMH, SDF, IND, PIT or GSO.

Oh, I almost forgot about ACY and IFP....

RJET is still telling new people as of that we have a DEN base. It closed in April. Despite the fact that there are >90 overnights in DEN, between IND and CMH we will never see a base there again. IAH is similar but may have a better chance of reopening.

If ORD is your idea of "west" then RAH is the place for you. MCI will be closed as a crew base in 18 months or less I expect (we'll see).

Dunno, I hear that the cognitive test is challenging. And that candidates aren't getting an offer if they fail.

Your view that current basing negatively affects recruiting is very off base. Recruiting suffered due to a substandard contract and nothing more. A very large % of pilots chose rah for the outstation bases. Your attempts to close and/or shrink those bases for a very self serving reason is poor representation from a union representative. You have long held the view outstations were bad. You didn't hold that view back when you were displaced. It's not a coincidence that your research backs up your bias beliefs.

I interviewed last week and they specifically told us that DEN as a base is closed.

1. I don't work for Republic...any changes that come about as the result of the expression of my viewpoints will not improve my lot in life and therefore, by definition, are not "self serving."

2. Out of the hundreds of pilots with which I worked while at Republic, I flew with very few (I'm talking fewer than 10) who lived in one of these outstation bases before being hired. I've spoken with numerous pilots who have decided against RJETQ because they didn't like the outstation bases.

3. The day after the 55 aircraft deal with United was announced, Wayne Heller personally told me that he understood that the outstation basing structure was a recruiting disadvantage.

4. I am not and never have been a "union representative."

5. I was never displaced.

6. My "biased beliefs" are actually a reasonable point of view that is largely representative of most pilots who don't live in the NE part of the country and/or aren't Steelers or Colts fans.

That covers everything you wrote....all of it wrong.
