Default Republic returning 18 E170s today...

It appears that RAH is returning 18 E-170 aircraft to their lessors. These aircraft were primarily used for American Eagle branded flying. Check out all the Republic arrivals headed into KRME...

Really?

Look through either of the two threads here and you will see that they announced they would return up to 23 E170's prior to the 4-25 deadline a few weeks ago...

8 have arrived into RME since Friday and another 8 are scheduled to arrive through the end of tonight.

So far all the ones that Flightradar24 have shown N-numbers for are all ex Midatlantic birds and are some of the oldest Ejets around.

802MD (LN13)
807MD (20)
812MD (30)
816MA (37)
822MD (43)

These are all E170's that were purchased by USAir and operated by the airline under the USAir ticket with furloughed USAir pilots branded as Midatlantic. These planes were either sold in 2006 to Republic or to a third party who republic then leased them from and continued operating under the USAir express banner.

Probably the desert or perhaps overseas if they're the original series beat up 170s.

Considering the 170 isn't really popular anywhere but the US, my bet is they end up in the desert, assuming some other carrier doesn't pick them up in the US.
