Default Republic blames pilot shortage for bankruptcy

It's a smart and collected move. Republic can come out of this better. Hang in there.

Evidently, there's a surplus of business models that are no longer viable.

If the general public becomes aware of just how lousy RAH (and all regionals) wants to compensate their pilots, I highly doubt there will be much sympathy for Bedford's cries of a "pilot shortage". The man is a complete charlatan.

Agreed. Chapter 11 might be the "new leverage" some regionals need to get the attention of the legacies who are stiffing them at every opportunity.

It occurs to me that Rev. Bedford spent nearly 9 years stalling contract talks wherein he could have been doing something to help his airline recruit pilots.

But hey, why give pilots a reason to come to your airline when you can, instead, milk the bonuses and stock options until it's time to file a sham bankruptcy?

I really hope there is a heaven and hell. And if there is,..... I think we all know where the good Rev. is going to spend eternity.

God Bless.

If failing to keep talent is the reason for the bankruptcy then any restructuring plan must include pay increases and other work incentives to solve that problem. Obviously.

I didn't know there was a pilot shortage. Delta, American and maybe United have over 10,000 applications for a First Officer position.

Funny how that works. The airlines that pay a lot of money have tons of applications. I wonder if there is a correlation.
