Damn Right! Now the pilots can sit back and smile when a flight gets CX'ed.

I still remember having a Republic crew on one of my DH flights. Captain kept asking me how much longer and I finally asked if it was a go home day. He said no, but if we kept the delay any longer they'd cx one of there round trips. I said, 'well that would be good then right?' He said no that they wouldn't get paid and that they were already on a 4 day trip that was only paying them 7 hours due to wx cx'ed flights.
I was shocked!!
So now the pressure is off. CX pay alone was a big deal in their contract.

Default Not that bad

I know I'll probably get flamed here for injecting something positive into this thread, but lets just consider the fact that if RAH does go bankrupt and they restructure the contract, no it probably won't be as good as the one now, but there's no way it can be as bad as the first one right? PM me for more motivational quotes.

Depends on what the pilots vote on. Eagle and Pinnacle voted their BK contracts in. The company can't just file and start striping the contract.

When has that happened? Why would a judge want to jump in the middle of a labor dispute during a shamruptcy. The company would have to be able to substantiate the clawbacks which would be difficult for a FFD carrier because the revenue is easily predicted unlike some at risk airline needing to reduce fares to stay competitive.

Default Republic Cannot Afford New Contract

If they go bankrupt and toast the new contract and essentially return it to the old one, then they are left with the same problem of not being able to staff, so what does that solve? Might as well close the doors.

It's happened to literally every legacy carrier except Alaska.

You can't be serious. A bankruptcy judge can/has/would unilaterally apply anything the company wants or asks for in order to save the jobs of all the employees at said company. No clue if this is where Republic is going but a pilot vote doesn't mean squat in BK, contracts are only approved during BK because the unions know if they are turned down the court will impose the full will of the company and pilots will get 0 say in the end product.

I was wondering this conundrum too, and I'm starting to guess that as long as they don't shrink too many airframes during BK the amount of people bailing for anywhere could drop upgrade times significantly. *maybe*
