You can go to Mesa and make more since they have cancellation pay. Also you'll probably upgrade in two years at Mesa. Also you can get a line right out of training.

And lastly no chief pilots are harassing their pilots like a certain Shuttle America CP.

22.95 * 75. (never ever ever ever ever ever bank on more than guarantee here.)

On reserve maybe 200-300 per diem if they use you, I had some months more and some less. I wasn't on reserve all that long in the grand scheme of things

if you get off reserve 500-ish per diem

after that it depends on your benefits and tax status. but generally half to 2/3 of your pay go to taxes and benefits if you have more than just yourself to provide for. Our legacy health plan is expensive but if you have kids or a spouse that has any sort of health needs it pays for itself.

This is true^^^^. One question: someone mentioned that new hires aren't eligible for legacy, true,?

first rule about upgrade, don't chase quick upgrades. the only way you can upgrade that fast is if they can hire someone to replace you. that well will dry up quickly for them as well unless their pay can start sucking people away from others.

True. Mesa is better than Republic.

If one lives in phx or LA. They're all the same. All the folks here who claim otherwise are just fools.

Yeah no. I've been at both.

2014 Mesa (not 2008 Mesa) is better than Republic.

Sorry. It's the truth. I've been at both.

It doesn't really matter what regional you're at. It really does matter when you get hired at a specific regional though. Myself and prior121 left our previous regionals which were shrinking and bloated with senior pilots for Mesa--which is in a post-bankruptcy phase of expansion and hiring.

Picking a regional is like buying a stock--whoever gets in before everyone else and/or out before everyone else wins the game.

Mesa seems to be a better bet than RAH (or any other regional) at the moment because we're upgrading and hiring like crazy (and filling classes, as hard as it is for seemingly everyone on this message board to believe/accept/understand). Of course that can change overnight, but right now the level of relative seniority to be gained (especially for the first few EJet classes) vastly exceeds that of any US regional for at least the rest of 2014.

We're filling classes due to simple microeconomics--the perceived value of Mesa's upgrade times, ability to hold bases/lines, ability to gain seniority quickly, etc. outweighs our labor contract and payrates. It doesn't help Republic that everyone seems to view it as a bit of an evil empire run by a crazy dictatorial religious freak.

I've never met JO so I can't really comment on our CEO at Mesa, however I can tell you one thing for sure--he sure as heck stays out of our day-to-day business, and I would rather work for our chief and assistant chief pilots here than for any other manager/chief/boss I've ever had at any job I've had in my life--I'm not exaggerating.

Anyways, it seems like Republic would be fine if they would simply loosen up and adopt a more laid-back, Western-slightly-redneck-style like Mesa--aka "show up to work, don't lie or break anything or do anything stupid, and we'll leave you the heck alone."
