Pilots? rejection of labor contract forces Republic to ?downsize? | Labor content from ATWOnline
You darn Republic pilots!!! Why don't you re-read Bedford's Easter letter to you and stop causing so much trouble? Bedford knows what is best. And stop confusing economists like Dan Akins by voting down big, fat pay raises. It makes his head hurt, I'm sure

The PSA pilots' balls fell off. Bedford needs to realize we're not all a bunch of spineless pukes like they are. We want to be paid like professionals. Just because we get a raise, doesn't mean that we don't fall short of that.

This guy is so full of it it is amazing. After 7 years, I think some are so desperate for an improvement that they could have easily gotten a passing vote with a reasonable contract. This article is full of lies. For Most in the group it was hardly a pay raise at all. Most of my flying would have included a .05 cent per hour raise. What kind of deal is that?

Doing what the chokes at PSA and many others didn't have the balls to do, stand up for principle. If this kind of determination was around 20-30 years ago, we would ALL be a lot richer both financially and spiritually.

So it looks like the new RAA talking points are to blame the Pilots for all their problems? They alone have the power to solve this problem now and wining about how the mean ole Pilots are responsible is weak and everybody including Congress knows it.

For you not to figure out who he is, how much he loathes people like Bedford before you posted your comment speaks volumes to your lack of knowledge.

If you had been around long enough to know who Dan Akin is, you'd know he's a former ALPA Economic Analyst and one of the most "pro pilot" economists out there. He's helped a heck of a lot of groups win big gains by deconstructing airline balance sheets and proving where the money is and what pilots should get. For him to shake his head says something.

Am I not allowed to disagree with assessments by Akin and/or Dubinski because they are/were "pro pilot" or were associated with ALPA?
And how can an economist, consultant, and highly educated individual like Akin, supposedly watching what is going on in the industry, be "confounded" by what the Republic pilots did? Really? Methinks that perhaps he works for an entity seeking consulting work from the RAA and/or its members. I doubt he was at the mike during that conference telling Bedford and his ilk "how it is." Further, he isn't doing the Republic pilots any favors by placing a quote in a pro-management publication like ATW and implying that just because the contract had large raises in it that they should have been voted in.
