Why does ANYBODY think RAH pilots, given that their company just came out and very publicly said they are walking away from revenue because they don't have enough pilots to fly airplanes they already have AND is working under a 10+ year old CBA would TA a concessionary contract?

From the Urban Dictionary, a fine institution:

1. hivemind

Hivemind is when two or more people come to the same thought at the same time because of the same circumstances but do not know each other beforehand (i.e. it cannot be an inside joke). This usually happens on internet message boards, and is especially noticeable when the thought reached is not a meme. The name is reflective of insects who act in unison with their hive (or nest) mates.

Poster 2: Holy ****, that looks just like my mom!
Poster 3: omg, that looks just like my mom
Poster 4: I'd like to meet your mom. Also, hivemind.

When it takes $100,000 do get your certificates $30,000/year starting pay is well below poverty. Name one other profession that cost as much as becoming a pilot where the pay is so substandard.

It doesn't take $100,000

Go rent a Cessna 152 or Cessna 172, buy a block of time at a slight discount, at a place that charges by the tach hour you're looking at $25,000-$30,000 tops for Private, Instrument, Commercial, CFI, CFII, whatever. Four year college another $25,000 in-state tuition and all the extras you have to pay unless you NEED to go to Embry Riddle then I guess yeah you are going to be poor for awhile, but that was YOUR decision.

So we're at $55,000 for schooling and training SPREAD over probably 5 years on average from age 18-22. If you aren't going to work, or try to save money I could see how you could spend a lot more money. Spend age 22-23 instructing or whatever and hope you have that magical $1500.

So no, $30,000 is not well below poverty. $11,490 is the poverty line for one in 2013. Even then the government gives those people food, cell phones, and all kinds of stuff.

You want poverty go look at another country, or someone in this country who truly cannot take care of themself. Stop being ridiculous.

You can't fight management with these weak, emotional, unable to backup arguments. I blew you out of the water in 5 seconds.

Upping the FO pay rates is a self serving benefit for the company. Don't forget that. They'll be able to better attract new pilots and in the mean time stick it to those on property with the crappy wording and abuse of the contract.... Don't forget that.

Uh, really? "THANKS OSAMABAMA"?? Well, gee, your own charts show that the biggest declines in household income were 2001-2009 when SOMEONE ELSE was President. THANKS, GW! Plus, your own charts show household incomes under Obama are finally starting to go back up.

Better look at your own facts.

- Hybrid basis (protects IFP/ACY)

- 3 day vacation slide either way Has to be approved by Scheduling

- Short call Reserve 2 hours (from 1.5) Still 1.5 hours

- Added long call reserve (12 hours), but the devil is in the details if the company has to use it

- Requires pilots to be contactable by notification This should be an automatic NO

- Adds option of self notify

- FIFO call out system (First in First Out)

- 4 hours min day credit for day trips Most day trips are already over 4 hours

- 5 hours of pay for airport standby pay, they made a big deal about this but it was in our old CBA, the company rarely uses it... Never used now

- Duty rig : 1:2.5

- Trip rig : 1:4.2 (its useless)

- Full CX pay Trip CX pay

- $8 mil bonus to be divided up, DOH prior to 12/31/2007 gets $5k, after that its pro-rated down equally

FO pay is somewhere around...

YR 1 30/hr

YR 2 35/hr

YR 3 37/hr

... not sure exact year by year after this

YR 9 ~47/hr

1% increase per year after DOS for 4 years

-175 CA red circle group for two years after DOS (they would actually take a pay cut if this didn't exist)
Everything in red is what I heard. Basically not much has changed. They want to basically make every pilot a quasi reserve pilot.

Stay Strong

No. $30k a year isn't poverty wages but is that really what we're shooting for? Not being on welfare? Which, by the way, some of us with kids qualify for. Our profession merits more pay...period. If we all demanded it we would get it. Simple as that. We cannot be replaced. A train conductor makes 10 times what a regional pilot makes and he doesn't have to make turns!!
