Come on guys. Trifecta!
I realize this means gains for you guys, but "gains" doesn't mean it's what's actually deserved. You shouldn't want basically industry average or slightly better... you want WAY better because that's where we need to be headed. Work rules, pay, retirement, everything.
The time is now.

Incorrect. We have a 35-day bid period, but our minimum guarantee is adjusted to compensate for that. Here's the math:
Reserve and composite min guarantee is 86.3 hours. Line holder min guarantee is 80.3 hours.
86.3/35 days is 2.47 hours per day, or 899.99 hours per year.
80.3/35 days is 2.29 hours per day, or 837.41 hours per year.
For a 12-bid system with the common min guarantee of 75 hours:
75 per bid times 12 bids = 900 hours per year.
Some other companies also have slightly lower min guarantee for line holders. Eagle is an example, with 72.
72 per bid times 12 bids = 864 hours per year.
So Horizon is short by .01 hours of min guarantee per year for a reserve or composite line holder. Normal line holders do credit slightly less. For the record, on a composite line, my per-bid credit has been up around 100 before any additional flying. Corrected for a 12-bid cycle, that would be around 87 hours per bid.
Our 35-day bid period certainly does take a little getting used to, (mainly the pay schedule) but it doesn't take money out of your pocket unless you choose for that to happen.

Also, 365 doesn't divide by 35 evenly. What happens to the other 15 days in the year?
And why do you guys do it this way?

I have no idea why we do it this way, to be honest. As far as I know, we're the only weird airline that does this.
My only gripe is that the line-holder guarantee should be a few hours higher, closer to the 86.3 figure. I can't figure that it really impacts actual pay much, though. If you're down at the 80.3 number, it's because you're choosing to have a high number of days off.
The weirdest part is the pay schedule that results from all of this. We get paid on a 2-week schedule every other Friday. We then receive an "adjustment check" every 5 weeks. This consists of all per diem, the rest of your min guarantee if you're on reserve, any additional flying, whatever else... It's weird. This check falls between normal paychecks, so every third time you get paid 3 Fridays in a row. Confused yet?

To me, that makes way more sense. Plus that translates to a 78 hour guarantee for 12 bid periods.
