Republic TA

Get it right, he calls us FFD pilots! Ohh and NOW he think that management has overreached and that we need better QOL and pay as we are professional pilots! Funny how things change during election year.

Weasel-Words
Read it cover to cover. Better yet, do a word search looking for open ended words and phrases.
Does it say "may" or does it say "shall?" If the former, apply it in context and assume you will lose the grievance.
Does it say "subject to?" If so, insert the words "the whim of" in order to achieve the full meaning of the clause.
Does it say "at the discretion of?" Change to read "under no circumstances."
These are only a few examples. Check carefully. Regardless of what is contained within the TA, the wording needs to be TIGHT. Without that, all that BB&Co have to do is say "That is not our interpretation" and it's off to Grievanceland with the lot of you. There is a rich and storied history.
Check carefully for the weasel words. They are evidence of bad faith at best and a con job at worst

Or do you have all the specifics?
Seems to me that if it's a good deal, the ones who should be upset are the guys whose union President has been telling them "sorry, nothing we can do for you regional guys..."
But I'm positive my vote is no.

There's a lot of truth to that statement. The second a TA is voted in at Republic the ball will be in ALPA's court to see if they can capitalize on what we're assuming to be significant gains. If they can't deliver not only will it be a colossal failure for ALPA but probably the beginning of the end of their viability at the regional level. They desperately need a win if they want to keep representing all those "FFD" pilots.
