To the OP, you never know what will happen in the future, so you need to plan for the worst and hope for the best (my mama always said that). Pick an airline with a base you would like to live in, has good (relatively) work rules, and the best pay you can get. That probably means Skywest for you. After talking to guys from Republic, I would not go there.

The rest of you with any level of education and self respect would do well by staying as far away from Republic as possible.

I think there are more people who would love to leave this industry than you think. I for one am nowhere near where I thought id be, but the cost of changing careers is prohibitive.
