Get in first chance and get the quicker upgrade. those 150 numbers could have you sit in right seat perpetuity if there is a national economic burp and things go to a screeching halt, and all those who took your Q class will be left seat.
Unbelievable! SMH!
I realize that this was a calculated risk... But the information I had was that 50% or less of the Q classes were full and that one of the previous classes no one showed for training. I projected that the one Q class would put me no more than 15 numbers behind and the E170 bases were much more agreeable to my family. I was told by everyone I know to stay away from the E145 certificate...

You didn't hear it from me. My crystal ball doesn't lie, check back at the end of the year. Ask some of the ExpressJet pilots hired in the last couple years if they are still on reserve. You will be surprised, some are on reserve more than 2 years.

There is no FO to FO transfer at this company, unless it benefits the company, then they let you transfer. For example they are struggling mightily to staff the Q so they gave current 145/170 FOs a one time chance bid for the Q. If I would've done it I would be in the top 1% of FOs in relative seniority on the Q as the most senior FOs are currently June 2012 new hires. Those guys on the Q will be "senior" FOs until upgrade. On the opposite side if you are last one on the Q you will be on reserve for 4-6 years (current upgrade time for June 2012 hire)

Now as far as the OP is concerned, definitely take a Republic 170 class if you can, not a Shuttle 170. Why? Because senior FOs can't bid over to that side. I wish I could bid over to Republic 170, with the 47 AA 175 that certificate will double in size, meaning if you get in now, you'd be bidding in the top 50% of FOs on Republic within a year! Meanwhile I'll be relatively junior at Shuttle, bidding in the bottom 30-40% while new guys like you will enjoy better schedules due to higher relative seniority .Republic is opening an ORD base for the new flying.

Just my $0.02

Thumbs up

Just a question?

Does RAH have 100% cancelation pay?

Does RAH have 100% DH pay?

If you don't get 100% your losing money.

The subs always get canceled when the weather goes to crap and then you deadhead to your next flight

Expressjet lost 27 pilots month.

just my 2 cents

Go to XJT! RAH will probably not get a new contract anytime soon. IBT is run by a bunch of clowns, especially their President who just got fired and almost sabotaged their ASAP program!

No, ExpressJet will take that much or more out of your paycheck on a regular basis because the payroll department is criminally incompetent (at least on the ERJ side).

Can anyone expand on the reasons to stay away from e145 certificate?

The most important part of your quote is getting glanced over! I will therefore highlight it. "one of the previous classes no one showed for training." I recently flew with a check airman at my airline, and I was told they are now re-interviewing folks who they had turned down in the past. I guess this pilot shortage is fiction!
